NEUROAFFECTIVE LANDSCAPES

At the heart of MULTISCAPES LAB is the research on Neuroaffective Landscapes—an embodied inquiry into how both material and immaterial layers of perception shape our nervous system and collective environments. I explore how landscapes—whether physical terrains, emotional territories, or sensory atmospheres—carry affective and psychological weight.

This research lives in fieldwork with communities, embodied design research, and eco-social regenerative practices. It is grounded in a mycelial model of interconnection, where bodies, ecosystems, and networks communicate through decentralized, multisensory pathways.

RESEARCH FOCUS

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

EXPLORING LAYERED PERCEPTION THROUGH EMBODIED, AFFECTIVE, AND ECOLOGICAL SYSTEMS.

At the core of MULTISCAPES LAB lies a research methodology that blends neuroaffective inquiry, somatic perception, and eco-social systems thinking. My approach is fundamentally process-based, relational, and multisensory, shaped by the understanding that perception is not a passive act but a living, embodied dialogue between nervous systems, environments, and temporal rhythms.

In this research, landscapes are not only geographic—they are affective, cognitive, and sensorial fields that impact how we feel, move, relate, and create. The term Neuroaffective Landscapes captures this convergence of inner and outer environments, where bodily states, emotional undercurrents, and spatial contexts continuously co-shape each other.

My methodology draws inspiration from mycelial intelligence—nonlinear, decentralized, and constantly adapting. Like fungal networks, the research process grows rhizomatically through interactions, slow sensing, and distributed attention. It resists extractive knowledge models in favor of reciprocal observation, where the researcher is not separate from what is being studied but part of the field itself.

A Mycelial Framework for Perception

KEY METHODOLOGICAL ELEMENTS

WhatsApp Image 2025-05-22 at 17.04.40 (2).jpeg
  • Immersive Fieldwork & Participatory Observation: Engaging with communities, sites, and materials through movement, listening, and co-creation.

  • Embodied Prototyping: Using the body as a tool of inquiry to test spatial, emotional, and sensory hypotheses in real-time.

  • Affective Mapping: Documenting how spaces and materials shape nervous system states, including emotional and somatic feedback.

  • Time-based Perception Training: Slowing down observation to access subtle shifts in awareness, attention, and affect—especially in micro and deep perceptual layers.

  • 3Rs of Ecosocial Enactivism: Rest, Reset, Regenerate—a cyclical framework that centers care, recalibration, and regenerative action in both design and research.

PROJECTS & OFFERS

Experiential Workshops & Keynotes

I design and lead hands-on embodied learning (performative) experiences for institutions, festivals, or educational spaces—connecting movement, neuroscience, and creative ecosystems.

Research Partnerships & Site-Specific Projects

If you are an Institution, Museum or an Organization, you can collaborate with me to develop participatory and performative art installations or applied research in architecture, ecosocial systemic transformation, and collective embodied regeneration.

Creative Mentoring & Advisory for Visionaries

I support changemakers, policymakers, activists, architects, artists, organizations and communities to reconnect with their relational intelligence through the BODYMIND Architecture method.

TESTIMONIALS

"We were in for a wonderful journey of creativity and connection! Carefully prepared and guided, the workshop was an exploration of how inner awareness frames outward expression... a well-crafted balance between doing and being, fused together by meticulously selected music.

Thank you!"

RENA / Social Phsychologist / Linguistics / Artist

"Eleni’s work is unique in the way she explores the intimate relationship between psyche, body, and space within the architectural and design fields. Collaborating with her is an enriching experience, filled with encouragement, insightful feedback, and constant inspiration. She is a remarkably talented person, blending intelligence and sensitivity in a way that gives her work both depth and authenticity. It’s this balance that makes her creations truly stand out as genuine and impactful."
